I winter most of my plants and I use T-8 fluorescent shop lamps. My table is 4 ft. x 2 ft. and one 4 tube lamp about 1 foot above them. Works fine but put on a lamp timer switch. I keep it 12 on and 12 off. It may need less light to induce their winter sleep. On my Sanserieria plants, I noticed some variegation is lost. More all green grows on new leaves. Natural sun works best. of course.
BTW I am a retired electrician/instrument person myself.
