It depends if the pollen you put on the pads 'take' or not. Here is what I do when I want to create a true hybrid - essentially the same technique with any flower. The night before a bud will open I cut open the bud and clip off all the anthers using cuticle scissors then bag the bud so no other pollen can get to it. The next morning I hand pollinate using the pollen I want to cross with then bag it again to make sure no other pollen can get to it and tag it. 24 hours later I remove the bag and keep my fingers crossed.
