Cats -- Glads will do just fine in your zone. Lots of people even north of you have them. In far north locations, the bulbs have to be dug up and over-wintered in a cool, dry location, and replanted in spring. I think you'd do OK where you are if you planted them near your house, especially along a south-facing wall. FWIW.
