Coldlime, even if you don't have a club nearby, you can join AHS and go to your regional meetings. Those are REALLY REALLY fun and worthwhile!!! Our region, for example, has a meeting called the Mid-Winter Gathering, and then in the summer, a Regional meeting with speakers, auctions and garden tours by bus. The winter meetings are very relaxed, with seminars and plant auctions and plenty of time to talk daylilies with people from all the adjoining states. I have made some wonderful friends at these meetings. I've even gone to Regional meetings in other regions, by myself, not knowing anyone there, and come home with new plants, new friends, and loads of new information. I am basically a shy person, but at these meetings, I feel like I am finally with my own "tribe".
At Nationals, I sat in a room with 700 other people all talking about daylilies. Can you imagine this? Normally a crowd this size would terrify me, but I just felt blissfully energized! Hurray! Group hug
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
