I was in an accident when I was 15 that today might have been fixable but then they didn't know it had torqued my spine and pinched the nerves to my right hand and arm. (Nothing was broken, so everything was OK!) By the time I was 17, though, it had become obvious professional performance wasn't going to work for me... Now I just enjoy music -- Mother Katherine has taken over the monastery choir -- and I'm letting my semps make music!
