Fiat, The leaf-like parts on the outside of the scape (called spathe valves) protect the buds and separate and pull back as the buds enlarge. You should soon see the hint of a line going down the tip. That where the spathe valves butt up against each other. I can see the line in both Margaret's and Tarev's scapes. At the very tip, you may see a tiny notch, where the valves meet. It might take a few days to be obvious. Also the scape tip is much fatter than the leaf tip, since all the buds are inside. On some varieties, the tip of the scape has a little red on it. Within a few days, there will be very dramatic differences between scape and leaves.
