I'm a very confused, Neil, about the witchhazel pics, and a little worried, too.
If it was so difficult to get the photos released to you, do they know they are going into a privately owned data base?
And this, at least you say, is before even the states of Alabama or Mississippi have the photos in theirs?
And even more perplexing: why did they allow you to post them with a PUBLIC DOMAIN license ????????
Did they tell you in no uncertain terms that anyone and everyone can now use the photos? (That's what public domain means!)
