Donald, you may have the Wax Plant (Hoya carnosa), leaves can be variable with few specks, lots of specks or solid green. I have two, at least I think there are two carnosa's out in the yard somewhere. and the leaves get reddish in color if they get a lot sunlight, as can be seen in one of my database photos. I think most hoyas are pollinated by nocturnal insects, moths etc. so the fragrance is usually detected in the evening and at night. I have a Wax Plant (Hoya australis subsp. tenuipes) on my screened porch that is currently in bloom and I walked out there the other night and the fragrance was truly amazing.

I rarely see Hoyas for sale here anymore ... but there are a couple of on-line dealers that are reliable. I think Joanie SRQ Hoyas (located in Florida) sells both plants and cuttings: http://srqhoyas.com/
