Fungus has a hard time growing in a lower ph than in neutral soil. So there's some benefit already. Also plants in their proper ph level can absorb more of the nutrients out of the soil for growth. Also check (and I know it's hard) to see what is the prefect ph level for your plants. Not all plants like lower ph.
I used an off brand of Surfer and sorry I didn't buy the 'Hollytone'. Mine is ruff sulfur cakes right from the supplier. I worked for a Coke and Iron company before retirement and we made those Sulfur cakes from by-products of heating coal into coke.
