I've never soaked MG seeds. I always nick them and stick them in the potting mix. The only time I get rot is when the seed coat hasn't softened up enough for the cotyledons to break the coat. I keep an eagle eye out for that and do 'surgery' to help the cots get free.

All of the soaking Tropaeolum peregrinum seeds were plumped up and breaking the seed coat so I went and potted them all up.
