I did a quick check of root weevils and one of the recommended treatments was the systemic pesticide Imidacloprid which is used to treat for the iris borer. It is absorbed into the roots and carried upward to the stems and leaves. Look for the Bayer label in almost any home garden store. It could kill both the larvae eating the roots and the chewing adults eating the leaves.
