I'm itching to start seeds myself. But I don't have a greenhouse and our temps fluctuate too wildly to be very successful with winter sowing. 
Can you believe this? It's 34 degrees right now in midstate SC zone 8a, tonight our lows will be 24 and the day after tomorrow our highs will be close to 70 degrees. Seedlings will sprout and then freeze. 
I've got to talk DH into getting me a greenhouse.
