It could very well be. That Mukdenia Crimson Fans is about 3 years old.

Another one of those really disappointing plants was Terra Nova's Begonia Metallic Mist. It looked just like the photo, in miniature. Nobody could get the darned thing to grow.

Heuch wise, I'm still waiting for some Orange on my Prince of Orange. It's past 3 years now. It's not a matter of getting a bad plant either. I never buy less than 3 of any one variety and often plant them in different locations in the beds.
I think that it's just bad breeding

Heuchs seem to be suffering the same fate as software. They release new varieties before all the kinks are worked out. I never buy the new varieties any more. I wait and see what others report on them.
