It doesn't really matter how long it has been since watering, the important thing is whether the potting mix is dry, not just the top inch or two, but way down deep. You need to find out. IF it is really dry, go ahead and water, but very lightly. How much depends on how large the pot is and how the potting mix drains.

By the way, perhaps you stated what sort of potting mix you use, but tell me again. Did you re-pot, completely changing out the potting mix? What size pot? What's your light situation now?
