I think it's got to be a species of Sonchus. Most Cirsium have sharp spines don't they? I know Bull Thistle has lots of sharp spines as does the Nutall's Thistle (Cirsium nuttalii) that is sprouting up all over my side yard ... very interesting and pretty bloom but ouch, those thorns are sharp!
