I saw that Flora of Pakistan hit, also wondered at that name. I don't think that's a botannical name. But it says it's most closely related to I. niamniamensis, and PF says to direct sow after last frost, which would indicate no cold treatment.

Tropicals generally don't require cold as such conditions are not available to them in nature...
