You didn't mention what area of the country these plants are growing which might help with a more exact identity.

The plant in your first photo reminds me of Azalea Rhododendrons (Rhododendron)

Second one reminds me of a Spruce (Picea) http://garden.org/plants/brows...

I agree with porkpal, the fish appears to be of the African Cichlid variety, a popular fresh water aquarium fish because they are so colorful:
