I don't know very much about Belgium, I'm afraid -- but there are a lot of people that live in my part of the U.S. that are of Belgian heritage, so perhaps our climates are somewhat similar (just based on the fact that we also have a lot of Swedish and Finnish descendents here, it seems that these groups chose this area to live because it was somewhat "like home."). Smiling

I agree that the first plant looks very much like a rhododendron of some kind; the conifer in the second photo, from the needles, looks to me like a fir of some sort, perhaps Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea), which is native where I live. http://plants.usda.gov/factshe...
