DH planted some portulaca in the 'window boxes' on the upstairs porch. This should stand up to the heat and dryness. The flowers aren't all the way open because it is cloudy but I thought I'd take the picture while I was thinking about it. The window boxes are DH's to take care of because the watering can fits in his bathtub and I don't have a bathtub. We don't have an outside spigot upstairs.

DH was going to go to the nursery after work and I told him that I wanted portulaca. He had never heard that name before and he rememebered it because is sounded like porch and they were going on the porch. He also had a hard time finding them at the nursery because he didn't know what they looked like. Google images didn't match the real thing. But he did a good job and got a nice selection of colors.
