Sorry, I didn't give enough info, I don't think this plant would survive freezing either. The ground doesn't freeze but the air sure does. I put the root ball in the ground in late March. I would recommend to anyone who thinks a plant died inside over winter to put the root ball in the ground if they have somewhere to do that.
