And a Happy Fourth of July to you. My husband and I will be moving to the Taylor, TX area the end of July/beginning of August. After we get unpacked I will be looking to see what, if anything, I need to do to improve the yard - possibly quite a bit. I am coming from southwestern Indiana, where if you stick a "slip" in the ground, it will take root and grow very happily, thank you. I have no doubt that gardening in Taylor will be quite different. My first two questions are: 1 - at what time of year should I plant tomatoes, and 2 - at what time of year should I plant green pole beans? I realize that these are trivial questions, but I do love a good home-grown tomato (beefsteaks are my favorite) and I love to grow and eat my own beans. More questions - is there a type of "weed and feed" fertilizer for lawns in the area, or is that something that is not done there? I have no idea of the grasses that are used for yards. I lived in Colorado for 49 years, grew blue grass in the front yard and fescue in the back. Used weed and feed and watered (following the water restrictions to the letter) and had a great looking and healthy yard. Plants for the area (6,000 ft. altitude) were readily available and did very well. I am hoping to have good luck in Taylor. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Elaine Qualley
