Arlene, I grow the Mickey Mouse taro in the ground and in a container. Both went dormant last winter, but the potted one came back faster. May be tho that it got watered more regularly. We were short on the rainfall dept. in late spring early summer.
Both mine get spats of full sun, dappled sun/shade and shade. They are chow hounds and thirsty, so feed and water them often, and as Evan said, be prepared to repot soon !
