Well, I would think the rating from Gossard was based on his/her? observations in his/her garden., I was not questioning that. I was inquiring how it was entered into the database here, because I thought it strange how they were the only such listings to appear in several years.
I guess my real question should have been "is there still an active entering of rust data from University Research programs that do studies on rust resistant varieties?".
But it would be very interesting to know if hybridizers are going to start listing rust resistance as one of the traits of their new releases? Why, did after several years of no such listings are the Gossard plants included showing all of them to be rust resistant, were all the others rejected because they were not, or has the breeding program just resulted in all rust resistant plants? Is rust even a problem in that particular garden, and were the plants grown in other locations to test for rust?
Yeah, maybe I should ask, even though that was not my initial inquiry. I think any response would answer some of the questions.
I thought all that info for new releases were imported with the AHS info, but apparently anyone can enter the info if they find it available. Char answered that over in the daylily forum, and I did not word my question very well here.
So I asked up further about the the relationship of the two data boxes for rust ratings, but have not received an answer on that yet.
