Daylily 'Crimson Pirate' (Sass-H.E., 1951), a spider that's an oldie but still so striking! IMO it's almost the perfect spider with very pleasing form. At the bottom right is 'Little Grapette'/

(Update: 12 May 2016)

'Crimson Pirate' has to be one of the most prolific daylilies I own. I ran across this photo and was surprised how small the clump looks. This year it's at least twice the size. In fact, either this year or at most next they will have to be divided to avoid crowing out nearby daylilies and to give better airflow. The space between CP and the rosemary...that's now completely filled with CP. Also, it's overtaken 'Little Grapette'. Wish I had these planted along a walkway as they'd be quite a display. It's not time for flowers yet but I'm hoping the number of scapes will be as prolific as the production of new fans!
