I lost many of my palms. My royals barely survived and are just now coming out with some new and bigger fronds. All my Christmas palms died and some of the Foxtails also went down the tubes. The whole thing was pretty disgusting. If I didn't have my small baby palms under protection they all be gone too. I had some still in pots and moved them under a plastic shed where I had an electric heater for my phals.
Anyway, I'm over it and life will go on. We are all pushing nature to its limits by growing stuff that has no business being here.
I just hope my bromeliads will be OK under the trees if I protect them with a layer of frost cloth. At least they are readily protected being flat on the ground (most of them). It's not like trying to protect a palm or bush of some kind. My beaugainvillas all froze down to the bare wood stem. They are growing back nicely though. But how do you protect a giant beaugainvilla bush?
