From what I have read here and elsewhere it should not be a problem. I would have my other planting hole ready so that it can be replanted as soon as possible. Others, more experienced, will correct me if I am off base here. Smiling Well - I was just trying to figure out how to get rid of the crate - particularly the bottom. I guess you could always leave it on.

Many plants are separated/divided this way (spraying down with a hose). I just did day lilies yesterday and have done so with hosta, iris, tulips, daffodil, naked ladies, trumpet lily, agapanthus and many others.
