My garden is in an awkward position so that side of my garden gets more shade in the afternoon, from our city trees. But it does get a good slice of morning sun at least from about 10am to 2pm. Normally the city trees should have continued on shedding their leaves by now, so more sun can come in, but they are holding on. Keeping the Hymenocallis leaves there at this time will further shade the growing narcisccus, so it will just hamper flower growth. Besides it is just the grasshopper happy right now, it keeps making a meal of my hymenocallis leaves!
