I love my KitchenAid. And all the attachments I have for it. Looks like the strainer is an attachment to the grinder attachment? That's one I don't have, although I love the grinder. My only complaint with it is that the plates are either too big or too small. However, I was able to find some in-between sizes from an after-market mfr and they work just fine. And, I agree, it may be that the splashing could be caused by running at too high a speed. Easy enough to do with a KitchenAid.
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.
