Yes, Scott is a very good speaker.
My purpose for raising the question about web meetings is due to the difficulty I have in finding local speakers and guests to join our club meetings and present. We don't have a pool of hybridizers in our club but do have members present. We have had great programs from our members, however the budget only allows for 1 meeting of bringing in a guest from out of the area or out of state. As the program chair person for the past 2 years, the job is not easy unless you don't care what topic you cover. (not sure that back yard chickens or bee keeping offered by the master gardening group is an interest to a daylily club)
I know the technology for web based meetings. Anyone with a computer and headset with microphone can join thru VOIP and screen sharing. One meeting organizer can select the presenter who shares their desktop presentation and put the audio out on speakers and your presenter can be anyone in the world. Also Q & A could work in a meeting room allowing interaction between the presenter and audience. Today the technology would allow webcam view of the presenter. (but it is not necessary)
I am thinking outside the box so to speak. I am thinking of using technology to fill the difficult task of finding program speakers on topic for a daylily club. I just pitched my idea to the ATP group here to see what your reaction to it would be.
Think of yourself in a club meeting where hybridizer ________________(fill in the blank with a name) is presenting their program on the screen and talking live to the group but not present in person.
Would this be a quality session for a club meeting?
Is this something that you would enjoy and attend?
