When I went vertical blind shopping with my mom recently, about 24" of the blinds had to be cut off. We kept the excess, knowing that we would find some use for that extra plastic. I already had an ulterior motive for keeping it, knowing that I was going to make some specific daylily crosses soon. No sense in letting good plastic go to waste!
All that is needed besides the vinyl blinds are a pair of scissors, a one-hole punch, paper clips, and a permanent marker.
Cut at least a 1/2” strip off the vinyl blind lengthwise. Cutting lengthwise minimizes the curve in the tag, and at least 1/2" is needed in order to punch a hole in the end. Then cut up the long strip into several 2" or 3" pieces, or the desired length needed for writing on. I made mine about 2” long, but the beauty of this is that it does not need to be exact.
With a one-hole punch, punch a hole at the top of the cut pieces and put a paper clip through the hole. Write on the back of the blind if it is textured.
