Sweet Indian Plantain (Hasteola suaveolens) On July 2, 2015 Miscellaneous Event
Someone ruthlessly mowed over the patch that contains this plant.
Western Spiderwort (Tradescantia occidentalis) On June 24, 2015 Transplanted
My third variety of Cow Slobber (my favorite common name for this plant... how about Snotweed? ) I planted the plugs on this date in our prairie-to-be and the leaves are still growing a little. I do not expect them to bloom this year.
Trumpet Vine (Campsis radicans) On June 21, 2015 Obtained plant
Received them from a friend on the hottest day of the year. I waited until a cool down to put them in the ground. One looked good, the others not so well.
Large-flowered Beardtongue (Penstemon grandiflorus) On June 19, 2015 Transplanted
Learned they do not like competition, so moved three away from some lively Wild Bergomot and Hoary Vervain to our Prairie-to-be. They had finished blooming and were setting seed.
Spiderwort (Tradescantia ohiensis) From May 15, 2015 to October 27, 2015 Bloomed
An amazingly long bloom season. The late rains and warmth likely encouraged this plant.
Common Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) On April 25, 2015 Plant Ended (Removed, Died, Discarded, etc)
Killed by chopping it down before the next stinkers bloomed. Replaced with a native Serviceberry.
Sedum (Hylotelephium spectabile 'Herbstfreude') On April 6, 2015 Plant Ended (Removed, Died, Discarded, etc)
Removed most of these plants from the north side of the house. Only one remains, but looks to be nearly bowled over by an expanding spruce.
Clematis 'Jackmanii Superba' On October 18, 2014 Plant Ended (Removed, Died, Discarded, etc)
Dug it up, put it in the compost pile. Maybe it will finally attract insects.
Clematis Crystal Fountain™ On August 31, 2013 Plant Ended (Removed, Died, Discarded, etc)
One of my clematis that I did not purposely kill. We let shrubs grow out as protection/ nesting for birds and believe it choked the vine.
