Rose (Rosa 'America') | On July 15, 2021 | Bloomed I got my first bloom on my 'America' own root rose! The bloom is little, but compared to the size of the bush, it is definitely the right proportion. I love the color! |
Bear's Breeches (Acanthus mollis) | On July 8, 2021 | Transplanted Plant came up this spring after being smothered by English ivy. But the neighbors cut down two large oak trees, removing the shade. The amount of sun was killing it! So I transplanted it into my shady woodland part of my garden. |
Hybrid Tea Rose (Rosa 'Mister Lincoln') | On June 27, 2021 | Bloomed Mister Lincoln bloomed this morning with the prettiest bloom of the season. |
Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Immortality') | On June 26, 2021 | Obtained plant Divided all of my irises and planted 18 of the divisions today. |
Clematis 'Jackmanii Superba' | On June 12, 2021 | Bloomed Went out in the morning to check on my babies and saw this bloom. The color is almost a black purple! Beautiful! Excited to see more of them bloom and then have the Golden Showers roses bloom in front of it! |
Daylily (Hemerocallis fulva) | On June 8, 2021 | Plant emerged Gardening is really interesting! You can plant something and then later have it die back and you think it's gone. Then years later it pops up and revives! Kind of like eternal life in Jesus Christ! We may die physically, and be buried in the ground, but when Jesus comes back we will be resurrected and come back to life never to die again! I planted Tiger Lilies in my yard back on 2007 I think. The last time I saw them was in 2008 - thirteen years ago. This year they have come back to life again! It's amazing what the right amount of sun will do to revive a plant! That's just like us! The right amount of SON and we revive as well! If things are not going well in your life, try letting the SON shine on you more! He is the author of life. Here's a picture of the Tiger Lily that is exhibiting all of her glory after 13 years in the ground! |
Rose (Rosa 'America') | On June 3, 2021 | Obtained plant Climbing 'America' rose is my all time favorite. I love the color and it's huge blooms. This was the first 'own root rose' I've ever ordered on line. I ordered it from Heirloom Roses. They arrived looking really anemic and sickly. I planted them, and now, a week later (June 14) they are green and leafing out. |

Columbine (Aquilegia 'Songbird Cardinal') | On April 10, 2021 | Obtained plant My wife loves the color of this Columbine so I added two of them in the shady border of my garden to give them some protection from our sun and heat. |
Columbines (Aquilegia) | On April 10, 2021 | Obtained plant I love Columbines. Tried growing some about twenty years ago when we moved to Virginia from Colorado. They lived about two years, but never seeded themselves. This year I decided to try again. Planted them in a more shady location in my garden this time hoping they will do better. |
