Did not survive winter 2015 after surviving quite a few years and even a transplanting. (I cut it back in the fall which I usually never do to butterfly bushes)
The bulbous, thistle-like shape and scraggly foliage of the plant, however, can put off gardeners who prefer more groomed flowers in their landscaping. The seeds, on the other hand, are ideal for birds. Safflowers require arid climates with seasonal rainfall.
