This is an unregistered hybrid from Lisa Hunt. If it is ever registered, it will need to be under a different name to avoid a clash with the existing 1950 Asiatic registration: Lily (Lilium 'Bolero')
Originally registered as 'Europa' in 1978. It has also been circulated as 'Chris North' and this is recognised as a synonym. As of 2014, the RHS Registrar has advised it will be known as 'Europa Chris North'.
By Australis (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia - Zone 10a) on Jul 14, 2018 3:17 AM concerning plant: Lily (Lilium Pandora)
This cultivar was granted PBR under the name 'Pandora' and so is accepted under that name, despite being uneligible for registration with the RHS due to an existing cultivar holding that name (Lily (Lilium 'Pandora'), registered by Chris North).
According the RHS Register, there is some debate regarding the parentage of this cultivar. They reference Lilies of the World (1950) by Woodcock and Stearn, pg. 208 and Lilies (1980) by P.M. Synge, pg. 73.
This is the original registered cultivar and is distinct from the unregistered (but commercially available) Australian cultivar bred by Bryan Tonkin: Lily (Lilium 'Show Off [Tonkin]').
This is an unregistered cultivar and will never be registered with the name 'Show Off', as an existing cultivar (Lily (Lilium 'Show Off')) from 1983 already exists in the RHS Register with this name.
The RHS Register lists two different possible parentages for this Lily. Of interest is that the parent 'Connecticut Morn' may not be the registered cultivar, as Lily (Lilium 'Connecticut Morn') also has multiple parentages, one of which lists 'Connecticut Bronze' as a parent!
The RHS Register lists three different parentages for this Lily, including as with Lily (Lilium 'Connecticut Bronze'). It is suspected that multiple plants were given this name, but only one actually registered. This is borne out by the fact that Lily (Lilium 'Connecticut Bronze') has a 'Connecticut Morn' listed as a parent.
According the RHS Register, the Fighter Group are seedling selections from Lily (Lilium Stenographer Group). In general, they are shorter than the Stenographer Group with flowers typically more bowl-shaped and up-facing.
This cultivar does not seem to be as hardy as the original Lily (Lilium 'Matrix') or the sport Lily (Lilium 'Sunset Matrix') (at least in my growing conditions). It did not bloom as well as either of those on its first year and then failed to return in the second year (unlike 'Matrix' and 'Sunset Matrix').
