I am new to this site, and was up half the night reading!
I am running out of garden space, with so many daylilies, they are SO BEAUTIFUL and
diverse. would love to hear from other DL addicted gardeners ....what do you do when running out of garden space, but just HAVE to have more? there is just about no more lawn left in our back yard...I need suggestions, any ideas are welcomed!

lottabeds13 - Welcome!

Wish I could move and purchase a home and a lot more land somewhere else, Natalie! That would be the ULTIMATE solution!

Once the backyard is filled up ...... Start on the front yard, which is what I will be doing next! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I've actually already started on the front yard, but I plan to add a raised bed across the front of my yard and maybe some raised beds along the sides of my yard. (Not sure yet exactly how I plan to lay it all out.) I do know that I will be adding a raised bed across the front yard which I hope will be plenty long and wide enough to add daylilies and other cottage garden plants. And maybe even tuck some edibles in, too.

The good thing about gardening is that the garden never stays the same from year to year. I never get bored. Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

you are not the only DL addict on the ATP forum! Welcome!

Just read http://garden.org/thread/go/40... and you'll feel a lot better Hilarious!

Not having enough land is a common problem as well..
Even for people who have several acres! Rolling on the floor laughing
Buying a house with more land is an option, like Natalie said
Or, if you live in The Netherlands like me, you can lease a garden plot ('volkstuin') Thumbs up Thumbs up

Welcome!

Or you decide which one will leave to make room for a new one. You can offer the old one for sale or trade it for another plant from someone or offer it for postage to a new home. Thumbs up

I have an appointment with spring!
I am so excited that I have found the path to fellow addicts! Have been outside since posting my message, transplanting and rearranging in the garden beds. First cool and dry day in a long while. Sighing!

Welcome to ATP where everyone seems to be addicted to something. On this forum it is the daylily. Oh sure its pretty enough if you have some nice cultivars. But it will drain your pockets and make your family think you are reading that thick book when really its the daylily catalog inside the binding that you are drooling over.
You will spend many hours toiling in solitude in the garden not answering calls with no one to share your deepest desires with. Except us.
Okay now on to the lighter side of things.
Today i used red spray paint in the yard to mark out my new addition to the garden and dug up some more grass. Hey the mower is not getting any newer so it needs a break. I have 3 new starts to plant and more if i decide to work this Saturday at the daylily farm. They pay me in plants so my collection is growing by leaps and bounds.
I have sold some and given some away to make this possible so can have some newer and better looking daylily plants.
Some of mine are over crowded so i will make another addition in the spring to alleviate this problem.
One simple rule to always remember here is grow what makes you happy. And keep it legal. So thats 2 rules. Welcome!
SO MANY DAYLILYS, SO LITTLE LAND

Welcome! To ATP! You are going to love it here.

I don't have a suggestion for finding more space for dl's, but am in the same boat as you are. My dh won't give up any more of his precious grass Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! However, we have a huge oak tree that needs to come down and I've already claimed some space for dl's there for next year!
