Here is my "Splash," which is always dependable and is, as usual, first out of the gate among my amaryllises. As you can see, the bulb has developed two separate necks and seem to be in the process of dividing into two bulbs. Do amaryllises do this? I wonder how long it would take?

That is really impressive. I see a scape just poking up on the bulb towards the front of the photo, so both bulbs will bloom this year. This is something that you don't usually see, normally a bulblet would form, not the bulb split into 2 equal parts. I don't think you should be in any rush to split them. Make sure both develop nice roots. Thumbs up

here are mine (Belladonna ), all spited immediately after planting to 2 or 3 parts, waiting to bloom.

Thank you, Barbara & Ron for your responses. I have no plans to split the bulb myself but was curious about it. Good to know that it's not unheard of!

Incidentally, that scape on the right appears withered at the tip. I've had an aborted scape on this bulb before, so that might be happening again. However, there is actually a second scape on that "bulblet" on the left! It's hidden to the left of the emerging leaves.

Another thing I love about "Splash is that it has the most amazing peppery fragrance. I think I like it even more than Blossom Peacock.

Ron, your Belladonna looks very healthy indeed!
