long time ago in a galaxy far far away, my mom was determined to get rid of the gophers in our garden. She told me to go watch one of the holes w/her 12gauge shotgun. So I did. I sat there with the shotgun in my lap (double barrel) cocked & ready to fire. Finally, after about an hour (booooooring.. just sitting 100% still), I saw movement in the gopher mound. Sure enough, after about 2 minutes, I saw feet. I waited & waited and waited, with the shotgun at ready. When I actually saw it's head, I pulled 1 trigger.

Little did I know that Father had replaced the birdshot with deer slugs.

Oops. Got rid of *that* gopher, though... *Blush* *Blush* *Blush*

Plus I can grow a rose!!This blue girl rose in my back garden all but forgotten. It was a wedding gift in 2004 so it has made it for 8 years with no attention what so ever.... It had gotten long and lanky so I cut it all the way to the ground (yes I was going to kill it) but there is new growth there so I'm going to let it stay..... Hurray!

Blue girl is one of my absolute favorites. I Lovey dubby that rose. I have like 10 of them all over my yards. And cutting it back to the ground probably won't kill it as I have to do that to most of my roses every spring from the winter kill.

Zuzu, I'm still looking at roses... came across these today, but I really didn't think they look that great... but I don't know if that is all that critical at this juncture. Do these look healthy? I'm all ears!

They don't look unhealthy. Quite the contrary, in view of the fact that they're imprisoned in fairly small containers in a location of high heat and humidity. I'd snap them up and plant them in the ground or in larger containers.

You guys are funny!! I love Knockout Roses and I do not care what you call them. I love mine because it is so humid here I have to do battle with black spot on regular roses. I just don't have time for that. I love the Knockout's because they bloom continuously and do not get black spot, they are a very nice landscape addition around here. You do not even have to prune them! Does anyone know of any other Roses that do not get black spot?? LMK!
