Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

Winter is coming Holly. That will take care of them.

I have some pictures to put up of my water hibiscus, but just have not had the time. Seems like every summer is hectic, but this one is even moreso. We have been in and out of the doctor's office with DH and now we are into the month with the birthdays.....

Hope he is doing better. I got the results from the MRI yesterday on my shoulder. It looks good no rotator cuff involvement. just minimal interior wearing. Still not sure if the bicep tendon is torn or just inflamed. So I got another injection and we will see how it goes but either way the dive trip is still on.
Well they make great compost, too. I put a wheel barrow full of water lettuce and water hyacinth out front with plastic bags and a free sign. A bout half of it disappeared, not like we get a lot of traffic here.

Best of luck on your shoulder - have you checked to see what they are injecting into your shoulder? I know that cortisone is something that needs to be limited. Please feel better soon.

I usually wait until the first killing frost before getting my WH out of the pond.

My water hibiscus. It doesn't look like it, but it is growing in the bog in my pond.

It's a steroid injection. I get a good bit of steroid meds with my allergies. That is why they think I had such early and quickly growing cataracts.
That sure is pretty one of my Tropical WL is blooming but I didn't get a chance to get a pic.

Be careful - steroids can cause more problems than cataracts. My husband is having problems because of deximethizone, which is stronger than cortizone, but a steriod just the same.

I had rotator cuff tears years ago, got the steroid shot once a year and after 3 years the dr said I just had to have the surgery. It wasn't bad, very tiny incision and I got the video to take home Rolling on the floor laughing It looked like a little pac man guy snagging snow flakes, they were pieces of scar tissue and calcium deposits the dr said. It worked so well, I had the other shoulder done the next year and no problems since. I do remember that the steroid shots were almost miraculous, I'd go in with very limited movement of my shoulder and walk out swinging my arm. Good luck with it.

Here's what is blooming in my roof pond.

Thought I would post a few pics of the new water feature, just a small pond and fountain. I thought I would set pots of water plants on the different levels and put more stone on the ground around it with pots and trays of marginals. There are two TWL in the small pond area.

I need to fertilize and maybe repot them, the leaves are smaller than they should be.

Lovely Jonna.... nice they flowered together ... an auto arrangement...
It's nice to be able to relate to your pond with flowers... I looked in on my pool today... and was happy the concrete was holding any pressure from the expanding bouts of ice... and it was nicely containing water... thanks for the reminder...
I should move south

I need to move South as well, although talking with some friends in Florida - they are supposed to be quite cold tonight.

Jonna

I love the waterlily picture - I am so anxious for my pond to be up and running. Right now, I have a layer of ice on the pond. Hopefully in a week or so, we can get things going. It is so quiet without any of the waterfalls running.

Lovely picture, Yes I am here with a frozen pond like everyone else. Some of my water plants are in the bottom of the deepest pond (3ft) some are in pots buried in the Veggie Garden and there are a few EE type growing in water trays in the GH.

I got a picture of my pink night bloomer this morning before it closed. It produces huge blooms but it's a NOID.
