I am not certain that this iris is the same variety but it is truly gorgeous!

Pat, your Iris is really pretty but I don't believe it's the cultivar 'Studena Vlna' in cliftoncat's photo. I love the blue. Lovey dubby

I sure wish the Tall Bearded Iris would grew here in my area!

Thanks, Pat. I think Lin is right - your iris is lovely, but it isn't Studena Vlna. SV is an Anton Mego iris; I've grown quite a few of his over the past years and really like their originality and health. I think that Mego irises are now available in the US from Sutton's Iris Gardens (and increasingly difficult to find in Europe!)

Lin, we grow tall bearded irises in our place in France, zone 10a. I have found that if I plant them where they have shade for most or part of the day, with a couple of hours of sun, they do very well. Perhaps worth a try?

Mika, I might just have to give it a try. I've never seen Bearded Iris growing this far south in the state and I always thought it was probably because they didn't like the heat and humidity. I grew Dutch Iris (Iris 'Miss Saigon') when we were a bit farther north in the state (zone 9a) and they did come back for a few years before finally disappearing completely. Species Iris (Iris hexagona) grows here in Florida as do Butterfly Iris (Dietes grandiflora) and African Iris (Dietes bicolor) but oh, how I'd love some of those beautiful, floofy types in my garden! Lovey dubby Our garden has lots of shade so maybe I should give the Bearded Iris a try!

Mika, thank you ... I no longer have those, I planted them at our old house and didn't take divisions ... time just seemed to get away. I also forgot to take divisions of my Yellow Walking Iris (Trimezia longifolia) before we sold the house. I brought one of my large containers of Hardy Hibiscus but left a couple of others that I wish I'd taken before we closed on the sale ... hopefully the new homeowners are enjoying them. Smiling
