Hello everyone,
I have a Fiddle Leaf Fig that appears to be healthy. It creates a lot of new shoots. However, every time a new leaf developes it drops after a couple of days. This happened around 5 times now. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

We need more information.

Is it indoors or outside?

How much light does it get? If indoors, how far from the nearest window?

How often do you water and how much do you give it?

Has it been repotted?

Hi Will,
thanks for your reply. The plant is indoors and sitting right next to a large window. However, there are a lot of trees in the backyard that block direct sunlight. There is another Fiddle Leaf Fig plant in the next door room facing the same window direction that is doing fine and developing new leafes, so I would assume light conditions are not the issue.
I water it once or twice a week when the soil feels dry. It has not been repotted recently.
I use 10-10-4 fertilizer plant spikes every 2 momths.
Btw, the plant just dropped another new leaf.

It looks like what you have described as dying leaves are the sheaths or outer coverings on new leaves as they emerge.

The light is probably not a problem, but the watering might be. Can you post a photo so we can see how it is potted? Can you also provide details of the repotting and how long ago it was done?

Remove the fertilizer sticks as they create hot spots that can burn roots. No fertilizer is warranted anyway.

Thanks WillC,
I removed the fertilizer sticks and repotted it into a slightly larger pot. Previous repotting was quite a long time ago. Hope this helps. Thanks for your help!
