It looks like what you have described as dying leaves are the sheaths or outer coverings on new leaves as they emerge.
The light is probably not a problem, but the watering might be. Can you post a photo so we can see how it is potted? Can you also provide details of the repotting and how long ago it was done?
Remove the fertilizer sticks as they create hot spots that can burn roots. No fertilizer is warranted anyway.
