Always trying to learn
HELLO EXCUSE CAPS NEED THEM DUE TO M.S. MY QUESTION IS THIS, I JUST BOUGHT A HOYA IT IS HEATHY AND COMES FROM A VERY GOOD SELLER. HOW DO THEY DO IN A SELF WATERING HANGING PLANTER? IT HAS A PLACE WHERE I POUR WATER UNTIL THE RED NEEDLE SHOWS IT'S FULL. I AM SUPPOSE TO LEAVE ALONE UNTIL THE NEEDLE DISAPPEARS THEN REPEAT. I NOTICED THOUGH AT THE BASE THERE WAS A YELLOW LEAF. HOW OFTEN DO YOU WATER? HOW SHOULD THE POTTING SOIL FEEL TO THE TOUCH? M.S. HAS TAKEN MY ABILITY TO WALK, THEREFORE I AM TURNING MY FOCUS ON PLANTS IN DOORS TO KEEP ME IN MY HAPPY PLACE. I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE ANY INPUT AND SUGGESTIONS ON INDOOR PLANTS I CAN LOOK INTO. LIVE IN FLORIDA AND I THANK ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME. BRENDA Thank You!
Thankful for all help
Have a Great Day

Welcome, Brenda to this site and to your new hobby. This is a good place to get answers to your plant questions.

If your self-watering planter (Lechuza?) was properly set-up, then following the directions you were given should be fine. The indicator will let you know when it needs water and that will soon learn how often that is.

An occasional yellow leaf is normal and not a sign that there is a problem. Focus on the new growth that should remain healthy.
