Whew, the heat is climbing this week! Just got in from the round of watering. Hey, here's yesterday harvest plus a gift of fresh figs from a dear friend. Made fig newtons for the first time with them. Wow! Homemade fig newtons are superb! Also roasted off the big butternut and put some ravioli in the freezer. I didn't pollinate the corn by hand this time around and there is a profound difference between TLC and wingin' it.
I'm now getting ready for my September seeding. Just thought I'd offer up some photos for my fellow gardeners.
Great harvest Gina, and this has been a brutal summer! Extra hot and extra dry in our part of Tucson.
Would you mind posting that homemade fig newton recipe? I have a fig tree which the birds and June bugs love. I do get some of them. Might try that recipe next year.

Hi Linda,
Here's the recipe I found online and used. I had 12 cups of de-stemmed and chopped fresh fig before simmering them down with 4 cups of sugar. I ended up with 7 cups of filling. I used 1 cup of filling for the recipe. With the added honey, they were perfect. I think next time I might decrease the sugar to 3 cups... But that's just me. Hubs says they are perfect. And they aren't too, too sweet. I hadn't found the recipe before cooking them down.
Anyways, I know you will like the recipe! It's a keeper!
