Here's a kitty we fell in love with on a garden tour, his name is Calvin.

He had this adorable habit of holding his paw out, like he wanted something from you, as in more attention! It is a big paw too. (open image to see)

Oh dear, I may have to make a trip out to Cali & steal me a Volleyball/Moomoo! I can't help it, I'm addicted to flame points! I love it!

And my Gingersnap doesn't have that distinctive yellowing.. ? Mine retarded? Mine's just orange all the way through. And what is Alstroemeria?

I had to adjust the coloring on Gingersnap because it was neon flared but that's what's in the underbase. Remember, temperature & growing conditions can have an effect on coloring.

Alstreomeria are "commonly called the Peruvian Lily or Lily of the Incas. It's a South American genus of about 50 species of flowering plants." (from Wiki) Zuzu and I love them, we're always looking for new colors!

They are sometimes called 'poor man's orchids'. Here's one of mine.

Those two above are shorter versions of some of the more invasive tall ones like this one I got from Zuzu's garden last year.

Oh, I've seen those! They're an annual here, and I'm not about to spend $25 on an annual, no matter how pretty it is!! They *are* gorgeous, though!

My original Gingersnap didn't struggle through this last cold snap we had, but I've replaced it and just waiting on some pretty blooms. When I get a good bloom, I'll have to take a picture of it and play with the iPhoto function to see if I can reproduce that neato yellow underside that you've got on your picture.

Oh, Sue. You take such great photos of my kitties and my flowers. And Calvin looks just stunning. I'm so glad you got a shot of him with his paw out, and another shot of him as King of the May with the little flowers on his head.

Gingerbread does have a tendency to shock my camera most days. I've been deleting photos of it all month. Today was so dreary that I actually was able to take a photo of it that came out looking just like the real thing. When I came back in and saw how true the colors were, I ran back out and photographed every bloom I could find in the garden.

$25 for an annual, Toni? We pay about $5 for alstroemerias in 4-inch pots and $10 for gallons, although we sometimes find the gallons for less. And they most certainly aren't annuals around here. They're downright invasive, in fact. I have to dig them up by the bucketload each year just to find all the other plants they're obscuring. I appreciate the hybridized short ones. The native ones get too tall and spread too quickly.

Well, considering I just turned into HD a maple tree, 5 roses, and a butterfly bush all from last year that didn't survive the winter, something as delicate as a Peruvian lily sure as heck won't survive the winter! I did pretty good, though.. only lost 3 trees to the winter this year versus a few years ago when I lost 10. But a crabapple, Hot Wings Maple, Golden Chain, 2 Autumn Purple ashes, Flame Amur maple, and Accolade Elm survived (the elm is now dead.. dog dug it up and it baked all day in the sun, which killed the roots. didn't know that Waffles had dug it up as the dogs in the morning are DH's responsibility). I wish I had invasive beauties like that!!! Heck, even my creeping phlox isn't invasive. Only thing that's invasive is grass & thistles. LOL!!

Beautiful roses and cute kitties. Simply a perfect combination.

Toni, check out Alstroemeria ‘Sweet Laura’. It's hardy in my 5b/6a garden. The flowers aren't as large and beautiful as the ones that are annuals for us. Still, they're nice. And they're hardy here.

Sorry it took me so long to answer. I can't detect a fragrance on mine. However, unless a scent is very strong (any scent), I can't detect it anyway. Also, there are some scents that I simply can't detect that others do easily. My sense of smell is very poor---but I'm grateful that I have it at all. Until I was about 30 years old, I could count on my fingers how many scents I could detect and I had never been able to smell a rose. As I've aged, this has improved but I still can't detect light fragrances.

The plant is worth trying though.
