Casey & Marilyn- (Don't want to get off topic so I will make this short.)
I am so sympathetic to the birds, especially in winter. There are several species which overwinter here; and I don't know how they withstand the brutal cold and icy weather. I am sadly missing the mourning doves this year. We keep feeders and suet going all the time which helps. But I can't help but agonize over their brutally cold environment. Sad

Leon, I agree. We don't get icy weather very often but when we do I always worry about them. I have to imagine keeping food and water available is a big help.

Thank you for sharing the Black Capped Chickadee pic! Lovey dubby I love those too. And the House Wrens, Titmouses, finches, woodpeckers, Cardinals... Big Grin

Leon,

Love your chickadee pic. We've mourning doves year round here. I'm surprised you don't have them in the winter also.

We feed the birds year round, on the ground (mixed seeds) and in feeders (suet, peanut, mixed seeds, sunflower). We also have 6 hummingbird feeders (and hummingbird flowers) between spring to fall.

Love to see the white throated sparrows when they arrive with the juncos.

Love that the carolina wren sticks around for the winter.

I'm so happy to see so many birds that can handle the winter weather and stick around. We've 4 evergreen trees here that they can get shelter in.
