Hi,
I'm just becoming interested in Plumeria, and wondering if there is a variety that has small leaves? Or maybe which one has the smallest leaves?
Thanks
Mike

The Dwarf Singapores have smaller leaves. Nice dark evergreen leaves. For me they are semi-evergreen.

Indeed, Dwarf Pink Singapore has leaves about 4-5 inches long.Thumb of 2012-09-09/Dutchlady1/2798ee

Hetty, doesn't the pudica have very small leaves with its fairly small, white flowers? By the way, the ones you sent me are doing well and all are in bloom. I will have to begin forcing all my plumeria to go dormant in about a month.

The leaves on a Plumeria pudica mature plant are not particularly small.

Okey, dokey. The plants you sent have very small leaves. I guess next year, when they are replanted, the leaves will be larger.

Just pulled up and unpotted all my tomato plants. I had 16-18 of them and it was time to recapture my raised garden. My compost pile is now full. I will be planting 4-6 dozen gourmet garlic cloves that I will grow organically. I will harvest the large bulbs in early May, let them hang to dry for a couple of weeks, and then sell them from the middle of May through June, or until I run out. Planting time for them will be in mid-October, but I have to amend the soil and give it time to settle.

Newly rooted cuttings will not have big leaves.

I agree I agree most of my pudica from you Hetty are bigger then i thought but i sure love the difference in the shape of them they are more narrow wouldnt you say?

Mike why are you worried about the size of leaves due to space?

Hetty
I was told bu a not so experienced plumeria person that said you can keep cutting older leaves off the plumeria and leave 4 on each tip that seems like in the growing season that is not very many leaves your thoughts ??

the Thailand cross "pink pudica" looks like the leaves are about 1/2 the size of most my plumeria BUT the dwarf sing. is 1/3 the size of that even.

Mike you are right about the size of the leaves of the New Srisupakorn (aka Pink Pudica) and Dwarf Singapore Pink..

I have never heard that nonsense about cutting off all but 4 of the leaves... why on earth??

Hi,
Thanks for all the info.
Space is an issue trying to grow a tree in a pot! I'm hoping to maintain a smaller plant, and I think the smaller leaves will just look nicer on a smaller potted plant.

My 'Teresa Wilder' plumeria just arrived. I has 3 branches that all have small leaves about 3 1/2 to 4" in length on the branches. I assume since it's April 13 (2024) that the plant is coming out of dormancy and smaller leaves are to be expected this early in the season. Any thoughts from anyone?

@daleandrews Welcome! to the plumeria forum! Yes, give it time and the leaves will grow once it is fully awake. I am not sure what area you are but even my in-ground plumeria that are just coming out of dormancy are growing small leaves at this time.
