Rust is just starting on one plant. I've removed the affected 5 leaves. I tried dabbing the few yellow fuzzy spots on a couple more leaves with rubbing alcohol. It left tiny brown spots but better than the alternative? The tree is not crowded and gets plenty of sun. It's the only one affected out of 30 trees and rooted cuttings. Hints. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I use fungicides, Cheryl, rotating 3 different ones. It helps but doesn't eliminate rust. Some varieties simply seem to be magnets for this fungi. I constantly pluck off the leaves and trash them when I see even a single colony of rust on a leaf. I've got approximately 300 plants.

Thanks! I have cut off all the affecting leaves. It is only on one tree (of 30) so far, a Mardi Gras. I'll try a fungicide or 3 next before the plant becomes naked. The alcohol did not work. But it does not seem to be on other trees.

Your climate is different than here in S. Florida. I never had much rust problems in all the years growing plumeria in Mississippi. Now it's a constant battle against fungi, not just plumeria.

This is a first for me. I am happy it is only one plant. I would lie to stop it in it's tracks.Wondering if Mardi Gras is not Rust Resistant? We've had lots of wet weather. I haven't watered the lawn for 4 weeks and mushrooms are growing in my pots. Now we have the storm coming...at least it's the good side not anything like you guys will get.

If you are going to use a systemic fungicide, you'll need to do so on all your plumeria, not just a single plant, Cheryl. You can apply a contact fungicide on just the single plant, being sure you spray the underside of each leaf, since that's where the spores colonize.

Hi Ken, I live down in West Palm Beach just joined looking for a solution to my plumeria rust problem and happily found this post. I have been using Bioadvanced 3 in 1 concentrate but the spray is a pain and ends up all over me so I was thinking about moving to granules (Bioadvanced
all one rose flower granules) instead. Do you recommend that for rust or something else like the fungicide you mentioned above?

Here are some pictures of the bottom of the leaves where I find the pests. Thanks so much for your advice and love to check out your store sometime.

I apologize, Jason, but I am not familiar with Bioadvanced products. Because of 'Tropical Plants & More', I am able to purchase commercial fungicides and insecticides. Banrot and Cleary's 6333, are good systemics and Daconil is a good contact fungicide, for those purchasing over-the-counter products.

Great insights, thank you. Do you recommend a fungicide and/or insecticide based on those images?

Jason, I hate the look of rust on my plants. The leaves just look "crappy". Since I've got so many plumeria, approximately 300, I am constantly battling rust. I can't tell you what you should do. With only a few plants, you might keep up with control simply by constantly removing those leaves with rust spores, and of course, trashing those leaves.

Welcome to NGA, @discoflowers. It would be helpful to (at least) include your location. You can do this by going to your "Profile" and giving that information so that it'll show on all your posts.

If you only have a few plumeria, you can control, and sometimes even eliminate rust. Daconil works about as well as other fungicides and isn't terribly expensive. For best results, when you see rust on your leaves, clip those leaves off and trash them. Good luck!
