So, I am good about deadheading and removing stalks on my daylilies, but I wonder if I'm being too eager in removing stalks. There is sometimes a new "leaf" further down the stalk. Will that also produce blooms? They don't seem to be on all the stalks, just some. They have profuse blooms for about 2 weeks and then a few here & there the rest of the season.

Sometimes a plant will create a "proliferation" from a bract like the one you highlight. That's like a baby plant that can be nurtured and grown into a whole new plant. I have so much Stella I wouldn't wait around to see if a prolif develops, but you can if you want. Generally the scape will tell you when it's done. You can wait for it to turn yellow or brown. If something is going on at that bract, the scape will stay green below it. And if you want to see what happens, you can leave it be until the scape turns yellow and brown below it.
