I have an heirloom daylily collector here in Michigan that says the real Magic Dawn is a pink daylily. All the ones marked as Magic Dawn are really Howdy. He is going to sell me a couple of fans of the real one next spring.

Thanks Cindy. I just checked the AHS site and Magic Dawn is just listed as a rose pink self with no reference to being bicolor. What I don't understand is how that got confused with the description of Howdy which is a bicolor. Is Magic Dawn a bicolor at all, but just doesn't have it described that way? Thanks!

I love all these oldies! But especially would you just look at Orange Flip from 1967...isn't that amazing?

And Crestwood Ann is on your list of "used to have"?? That was the very first tet ever registered isn't it?

I wonder what it looked like....

My wish list just got longer....

Thanks for all the lists and photo's!!

The real Magic Dawn is not supposed to be a bicolor and the description that AHS has is correct. I really don't know where all the confusion came from and how it got marketed as a bi-color.

Thanks again, Cindy. That clears that up for me about Howdy and Magic Dawn. I have been wondering for years:)

Debra, I can see why Dixie Land Band is one of your favorites. It is very pretty!

Laura, you have a lot of nice older ones. I really like Ming Toy and especially like the height on Autumn Minaret.

Marilyn, that is a super list! Catherine Woodbery is gorgeous!

A lot of the oldies are my favorites, and I grow a "lot" of them.

I think that's what Sharon Brown sent me out of her yard this fall...

Oh Mary, you've been bitten by the daylily bug . But it is a wonderful addiction! Just be sure to keep the Kwanso away from other daylilies because it spreads by underground stolons. I just divided my Kwanso this year and set starts all along a fence. I am excited about what it will look like in a couple of years when it fills out.

Right now, they're in a separate section of the new bed I built in Oct, but that was just to give them a winter home. Thanks for the warning, and I'll move them in the spring.
