Hi everyone,

Last week I went to my parents place and saw that their desert rose plant wasn't getting proper sunlight (they left it in an area that gets minimal light) and one of the branches was getting squishy. At first I thought it was rotting so I cut it off with a sterilized knife and sprinkled cinnamon on it. It's been a couple of days now and it seems the squishyness has spread throughout the plant (only one area is still hard). The area where I made the cut has turned dark brown/black and I think mold is growing.

Not sure if I should give up on this one or if It's possible to save it?

Can it be positioned outdoors, so it gets much more light and heat? But not get rained on, in case it happens to rain too much there. The media might make it more prone to rotting when gets rained on, since it is not quite gritty.

If it were mine, I would let the plant go outdoors, but reapply first cinnamon. Then let it heal/callus further the injury. Give it a week, it has to dry up that part. Typically if it were growing outdoors in summer, frequent watering is what it likes once it is awake. But if it is growing indoors, water intervals should be observed, since dry out time takes much longer, and it is really more prone to rotting when it gets quite a water retentive media while indoors.
